Brewed with well water (the original Old Brewery well, sunk in 1758, is still in use, and the hard well water is drawn from 85 feet underground); the finest malted barley and a generous amount of select aromatic hops; fermented in "Yorkshire stone squares" to create an exceptionally full-flavored complex beer with abundant maltiness and fruity hop character. The bottle label is based on Samuel Smith's Victorian letterhead when the brewery was a contractor to Her Majesty Queen Victoria's forces.
Samuel Smith's Brewery has been brewing high quality organic craft ale, lager and fruit beers since 1758 in Tadcaster.
