Baltic Porter is known as the only bottom-fermented porter beer in the world. It is a dark mahogany-colored beer with a thick head, a hint of toasted caramel sweetness and a delicate bitter finish. Historical origin: In the 18th century, Imperial Stouts exported from Great Britain were popular in the lands around the Baltic Sea. Later, local breweries created analogues of this beer, using local raw materials and adapting the brewing methods used in them. This is how Baltic Porter came into being.
Rafailas Volfas founds a brewery. The brewery is located in what was then Vilijampole. After Lithuania was occupied by the Soviet Union, the brewery was nationalized. Volfas Engelman beer was commissioned on the occasion of the 60th birthday of President Kazys Grinius. "Ragutis" is privatized and reorganized into a joint-stock company.
