Pannepot Vintage is a creation of the Belgian brewery Struise Brouwers, known for its excellence in the production of craft beers in Belgium. Style and characteristics of the beer, brewing method, ingredients, hops used: Pannepot Vintage is a Belgian Strong Dark Ale style beer, with an alcohol content of 10º. It is a strong, dark and complex beer, brewed with barley and wheat malts, and a careful selection of hops. In addition, Belgian yeast is used, which gives it a unique flavor. The beer is brewed through a high fermentation process, which lasts about a week, followed by a second fermentation in the bottle. This gives it a natural carbonation and additional flavor complexity.
The "Struise" concept is based on creativity, innovation, quality, sustainability and friendship. They started their journey into the world of beer in 2001. It all started at De Noordhoek, an ostrich farm in the middle of the Lo-Reninge fields. It was there that the first beer was brewed. Struise Witte became an old-fashioned wheat beer. "Struise" comes from the Flemish slang for ostrich. Therefore, the coat of arms depicts a proud ostrich surrounded by a knight's helmet, shield and feathers. In 2003 they decided to market their latest creation, a Belgian Dark Strong Ale called Pannepot. At that time they did not yet have their own facility, so they continued to live as gypsy brewers. They started at the Coulier brewery and later at the nearby Deca brewery in Woesten. In 2009 they moved to a charming old school in Oostvleteren, where they have been brewing beers independently since 2012. Heading the Struise team is Urbain Coutteau as brewer and head of operations. Dion Vandeweghe strengthens the team as brewer and barrel room curator and Tom Coutteau as assistant brewer.
