Francisca Josina Vandersmissen was born in Hof ter Kwadewegen, in Pajottenland, Belgium, on a bed of hops and malt. The noble brewing lineage of the region ran freely through her veins. Years later, her resplendent appearance captivated Joos Frans Lindemans. In 1822, the young couple married and moved into the farm brewery in Vandersmissen. Soon after, they started their family and began brewing lambic beer. Thus the Lindemans brewery was born.
