EKU 28 is a high alcohol beer brewed by the German brewery Kulmbacher Brauerei AG. It was created in 1951 to celebrate the brewery's 100th anniversary and quickly became a popular beer among strong beer drinkers. Beer style and type, beer history and grades: EKU 28 is a doppelbock beer, brewed using a long, cold fermentation process. It has an alcohol content of 11%, making it one of the strongest beers in the world. Its name comes from the original extract (28 degrees Plato) used in the brewing process.
Kulmbach is not known as the secret capital of beer for nothing. A 3,000-year-old beer amphora, found in the Kulmbach region and on display in the Bavarian Brewery Museum, is considered the oldest evidence of brewing in Germany. The archives show that even after that, the craft of brewing enjoyed a special status in the margrave town. Based on this tradition, we see it as our task to preserve the craft and the Bavarian Purity Law while at the same time constantly developing the brewing industry. That is why we pay the greatest possible attention to quality and environmental compatibility in our brewing process - for a natural and sustainable future. Of course, we also rely on regional suppliers for our raw materials.
