Chimay Triple is a triple Trappist beer. In Belgium, it is among the best known triple beers. Brewed in the Abbey of Scourmont, it comes from the know-how of the Cistercian Trappist monks. Visually, it is a beautiful golden-bodied lager with a fine layer of snow-colored foam. On the nose, it offers interesting aromas of raisins and apple compote. This complexity is due to the finesse of the Cistercian brothers' hops. In the mouth, it presents an interesting balance between the fruity notes of the yeasts and the pleasant bitterness of the bittering hops. Its style is thus very different from that of its older sisters, Chimay Rouge and Chimay Bleu.
The story began when, in 1850, the parish priest of Virelles, Abbot Jean-Baptiste Jourdain and the Prince of Chimay, Joseph de Riquet de Caraman, entrusted a mission to a dozen monks from Westvleteren: to settle on the high plateaus of Scourmont with the objective that they still pursue today: "to help the region of CHIMAY". to do so, they decided to produce beer from the water that nature offered them in abundance on these marshy plateaus. Then, they created cheese... A prosperous history that has lasted for many years, based on solid social and environmental values, and is as relevant as ever.
