Achel Tripel is a characterful Abbey beer that encompasses the essence of craftsmanship and Trappist tradition. The natural brewing process and the soft Achel water give it its unique taste palette. The optimal balance between fruitiness and spiciness ensures that this tripel is popular with many enthusiasts. Brewed with dedication and according to age-old recipes, this tripel is a tribute to authenticity. The former Trappist has a refined, full-bodied taste with light floral notes and a natural hop bitterness that gently lingers in a long, dry finish. Let your taste buds dance on the harmonious notes of peach, apricot and a subtle hint of honey.
The Achelse Kluis breathes history. Over the centuries, the residents have changed and there has been construction, restoration and expansion. The result is a unique complex where various Gothic styles and magnificent buildings are present. The Achelse Kluis has five important periods: 1656 – Pastor Tielens establishes the rectory and border chapel. 1686 – Petrus van Eijatten buys the parsonage and the grounds. He then establishes a brotherhood there. From now on it is called De Achelse Kluis. 18th century – The fruitful period of the hermits in the 18th century lasts until the French Revolution 19th century – The Trappists take over De Kluis in the 19th century . They settle there and pick up the Catholic thread again. De Kluis expands to such an extent that it is elevated from monastery to Abbey in 1871 . End of WWII – The grand construction plans for the new Abbey are realized.
