Originally brewed to celebrate our first anniversary in 1997, Stone IPA was an immediate success and soon became the flagship beer of our young brewery. One of the most respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with tropical, citrus and pine flavors and aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. Over time, we intensified the dry-hopping process to extract all the magic from the incredible hops we use. This beer is as bold, fresh and flavorful today as it was in 1997.
Founded by Greg Koch and Steve Wagner, we've come a long way since opening in San Diego County in 1996. Today, we are the ninth largest craft brewery in the U.S. and operate two brewing facilities on both coasts, in Escondido, California and Richmond, Virginia. Today, our beer is available in all 50 states and more than 40 different countries. But not only do we brew beer, we are also proud to serve it in our restaurants and bars. In addition, we also operate the largest craft beer distribution business in the U.S. and serve our home region of Southern California.
