The history of Kalnapilis began in 1902, when on January 1, the German landowner Albert Foight brewed the first batch of beer at the Bergschlösschen brewery in Panevėžys, the centre of Aukštaitija, famous for its brewing traditions. In 2021, the taste of Kalnapilis Original was once again awarded the highest 3-star rating in the Superior Taste competition.
