In 1906, Otto Schneider, a master brewer of Prussian origin, arrived in the city of Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, aboard the ship "Capitán Blanco". A year later, he would be working in important breweries in the country, among them Cervecería San Carlos.

In 1911, Otto Schneider settled at the foot of the Setúbal Lagoon, looking for a place to continue the know-how he had learned in his parents' brewery in East Prussia. There, he promoted the foundation of the Santa Fe Brewery and, 21 years later, he gave his name to his own brand, creating a variety with strong ties to his family's traditional German recipe.

The water of Pilsen, in the German colonization zone of the current Czech Republic, was recognized since the 19th century as one of the best for brewing beers. To such an extent did it mark the taste of the beverages produced there that the locality gave its name to a whole branch of varieties (pilsen style). What Schneider and other experts proposed was to take advantage of the waters of the river basin on which the city of Santa Fe is located, whose qualities were comparable to those.
