Discover the rich taste experience of Achel Dubbel, born from the centuries-old Trappist tradition. Achel Dubbel is a traditional Abbey beer with a warm, ruby-red color and complex aromas. The natural brewing process and the soft Achelse water contribute to the unique flavor palette of this brown beer. Let yourself be seduced by the harmonious combination of sweet caramel tones, subtle spiciness and a hint of dark fruit. The former Trappist has a refined full-bodied taste and a natural hop bitterness that ends in a dry, long-lasting aftertaste. Referral fermentation in the bottle.
The Achelse Kluis breathes history. Over the centuries, the residents have changed and there has been construction, restoration and expansion. The result is a unique complex where various Gothic styles and magnificent buildings are present. The Achelse Kluis has five important periods: 1656 – Pastor Tielens establishes the rectory and border chapel. 1686 – Petrus van Eijatten buys the parsonage and the grounds. He then establishes a brotherhood there. From now on it is called De Achelse Kluis. 18th century – The fruitful period of the hermits in the 18th century lasts until the French Revolution 19th century – The Trappists take over De Kluis in the 19th century . They settle there and pick up the Catholic thread again. De Kluis expands to such an extent that it is elevated from monastery to Abbey in 1871 . End of WWII – The grand construction plans for the new Abbey are realized.
