Over the years, the story of that peeler from León known as Genarín has become part of our popular imagination. His shadow is cast over every corner of the city of León to remind us of the bohemian, scoundrel and libertine that we all carry within us and that we do not always give free rein to out of shame.
Posthumous author of four "extraordinary miracles" and turned into the "least holy saint" of the calendar, he stars every Holy Thursday night in one of the most singular festivities in Spain; a multitudinous pagan liturgy based on orujo and poetry: the Burial of Genarín.
It comes to us "the last miracle" of the holy peeler: its liquid transmutation in quintessence of the pomace, potentiator of life and joy according to his teachings. A toast to Genarín, now made into pomace:
"And following his customs, Which were never a luxury, Let us drink in his memory, A copina of orujo"
