Judas is a Belgian Strong Ale from Alken-Maes, with an intense flavor and aroma of malt and spices. Its alcohol content is 8.5%. Brewed since 1986, it has gained worldwide popularity thanks to its distinctive flavor and high quality. This top-fermented beer has a dark amber color and a sweet, rich flavor from barley malts. Hopped and spiced, it has a spicy aroma. It pairs well with red meats, stews, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Winner of awards such as Gold at the World Beer Awards 2015 and the Brussels Beer Challenge 2017 in the Strong Ale category. Brewed by Brouwerij Alken-Maes in Alken, Belgium, it is known for its curious history and its name related to Judas Iscariot.
Since 2019, Alken Maes consists of the Breweries Cristal in Alken, Affligem in Opwijk, Mort Subite in Kobbegem, Cidrerie Stassen in Aubel and Mouterij Albert in Puurs-St-Amands. This is the fruit of years of collaboration and a long history.
